“Crustworthy” artists inspire teens
It’s not every day that creative teenagers have the opportunity to share a pizza with WA’s renowned artists, but that’s exactly what happened in Mount Lawley this week.
Michelle Xa Rechichi said that Crust Pizza Mount Lawley wanted to bring the top artists to her shop on Walcott street, so that customers could experience the artwork which will be on sale at the Lawley Art Auction on Saturday 18th June.
The auction supports students from Mount Lawley Senior High School’s Music and Specialist Visual and Performing Arts (SVAPA) programs.
Among the highly acclaimed guests were Inglewood artists, Peter and Jillian Ciemitis.
Peter’s work is represented in major galleries throughout the world and the piece he’s submitted for this year’s Lawley Art Auction is a drawing of geographer George Seddon, who was the subject of his 2007 Archibald shortlisted painting.
Jillian is a multi-award winning printmaker and photographer. Her screen print on offer at the Lawley Art Auction, Dietro Il Velo was influenced by 18th century printmaker, Giovanni Battista Piranesi.
Other works at the auction will include paintings, ceramics, glass, textiles and more.
The Lawley Art Auction is a public event held at Mount Lawley Senior High School. Viewing of the artworks, music, drinks and canapés begin at 5pm. The hammer goes down for the art auction at 7pm.
